Hastelloy B Physical property

Hastelloy B is a face-centered cubic lattice structure, which reduces the processing brittleness and prevents the precipitation of Ni4Mo phase at 700-870℃ by controlling the content of iron and chromium to a minimum.

Density: 9.24g /cm3 Melting point: 1330-1380℃

Hastelloy B alloy has the following properties:

1. by controlling the minimum content of iron and chromium, prevent the formation of β-phase Ni4Mo.

2. excellent corrosion resistance to reducing environment.

3. with excellent resistance to moderate concentration of sulfuric acid and many non-oxidizing acid corrosion.

4. with good resistance to chloride ion reduction stress corrosion cracking (SCC).

5. with excellent resistance to various organic acid corrosion ability.

Hastelloy B Corrosion resistance

Nickel-molybdenum alloy Hastelloy B has very low carbon and silicon content, which reduces the precipitation of carbon and other impurity phases in the welding heat affected zone, so its weld also has sufficient corrosion resistance. The alloy Hastelloy B-2 has excellent corrosion resistance in reducing media, such as hydrochloric acid solutions at various temperatures and concentrations. In a medium concentration of sulfuric acid solution (or containing a certain amount of chloride ions) also has good corrosion resistance. It can also be used in acetic and phosphoric acid environments. Alloy materials have the best corrosion resistance only when they are in a suitable metallographic state and a pure crystal structure. Hastelloy B has good corrosion resistance to reducing environments such as moderate concentrations of sulfuric acid and other non-oxidizing acids, and good resistance to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking, but it is very susceptible to oxidation environment corrosion, so it cannot be used in the environment containing iron salts or copper salts, because these substances will quickly cause corrosion.

Hastelloy B alloys are widely used in chemical, petrochemical, energy manufacturing and pollution control fields, especially in sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, acetic acid and other industries.
