What is carbon steel?

Carbon steel is an iron-carbon alloy with a carbon content of 0.0218% to 2.11%.

Also known as carbon steel.

Generally also contains a small amount of silicon, manganese, sulfur, phosphorus.

Generally, the higher the carbon content in carbon steel, the greater the hardness and strength, but the lower the plasticity.

According to the quality of steel, carbon steel can be divided into ordinary carbon steel (higher phosphorus and sulfur content), high-quality carbon steel (lower phosphorus and sulfur content) and high-grade high-quality steel (lower phosphorus and sulfur content) and extra high quality steel.

According to carbon content, carbon steel can be divided into low carbon steel (WC ≤ 0.25%), medium carbon steel (WC0.25%-0.6%) and high carbon steel (WC> 0.6%).

Generally used as engineering structures and ordinary mechanical parts.

Such as Q235 can make bolts, nuts, dowels, hooks and less important mechanical parts and building structures in rebar, steel, rebar and so on.

316 stainless steel is a kind of austenitic stainless steel, due to the addition of Mo element, so that its corrosion resistance, and high temperature strength has been greatly improved, high temperature resistance can reach 1200-1300 degrees, can be used under harsh conditions.

Carbon steel is no more resistant to corrosion than 316 stainless steel.

Carbon steel commonly used steel number and use: 08F, low carbon mass fraction, good plasticity, low strength, used for stamping parts such as automobile and instrument shell; 20, good plasticity and weldability, used for parts and carburized parts with low strength requirements, such as hoods, welding containers, small shafts, nuts, washers and carburized gears; 45, 40MN, good comprehensive mechanical properties after tempering, used for mechanical parts with large forces, such as gear, connecting rod, machine tool spindle, etc.
